About UVA Wise Grants
Serving Southwest Virginia. Launched in December 2024, Virginia Humanities at UVA Wise is a new partnership that will amplify stories from across Southwest Virginia and illustrate the ways the humanities bring communities together to foster dialogue and understanding.
- Awards up to $5,000
- Application Opens: Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 9:00 AM
- Application Deadline: Saturday, October 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM
- Decisions announced: Monday, December 14, 2026
- Budget period: January 1, 2027 to December 31, 2027
Important General Information
Eligibility
- Applicants must be located within one of the nine counties which define the Virginia Humanities at UVA Wise service area:
- Buchanan
- Dickenson
- Lee
- Russell
- Scott
- Smyth
- Tazewell
- Washington
- Wise
- Applicants must have up-to-date nonprofit status.
- Applicants may not apply for more than one Virginia Humanities and/or Regional Center grant at the same time.
- Applicants may not apply if they have an open Virginia Humanities and/or Regional Center grant.
- Grantees must complete a final report and have it approved before applying for a new grant.
- Grantees may receive funding for the same project, including planning and/or implementation grants in two different grant cycles, but not for a third time.
